A beach name is not a pickup address

The tourism board describes Macao as a beach destination associated with surfing. For a Saona transfer, explain whether you are staying at a resort or another property near the beach. Give the full hotel name or a pin at the actual entrance. Do not wait on the sand or at a surf meeting point unless the driver has specifically agreed to meet there.

Check road access and the return connection

For a smaller property, ask whether the collection vehicle can reach the entrance and whether a nearby road meeting point is preferable. Agree the location in writing and allow time to get there. If you arrange your own driver, obtain the Bayahíbe check-in instructions first and book the return as well as the outbound ride.

Do not judge Saona conditions from Macao's surf

Macao's surf beach and the Bayahíbe-to-Saona boat route are different settings. Conditions outside your hotel do not establish whether an island departure will operate. Ask the excursion team about the actual route, the weather decision and the cancellation terms. Even a beach that looks calm in a photograph cannot promise calm water on your travel date.

Make Saona the day's main activity

Choose Classic for the larger shared catamaran format or Premium for the smaller shared group and additional island stops. Keep a surf lesson, buggy outing or other timed activity on a different day: collection, boarding and the hotel return form one full excursion. Pack sun protection and a dry bag, and ask which belongings can stay with you on the boat.
